According to local legend, during the Swedish invasion, the inhabitants of these lands used a ruse that led to the invaders' retreat. In commemoration of these events, the place was named the Swedish Mound. The motif of the circle also appears in nature – on the surface of the lake, when a raindrop creates fleeting yet powerful ripples.
