PLACES ASSOCIATED WITH APOLINARY SZELUTO

When speaking of Słupca, it is impossible not to mention Apolinary Szeluto. This magnificent composer and pianist of the Young Poland period is connected with our region. He arrived in Słupca with his family in 1933, where he served as a notary. He never abandoned his passion for music. Despite other duties, he continuously engaged in playing and composing. After his death in 1966, he was laid to rest in the Słupca parish cemetery.

Apolinary Szeluto Square – Słupca, Koszucka Street

In the square named after the musician, there is a monument dedicated to his memory, erected on the hundredth anniversary of Szeluto’s birth. The square, located near the house where the artist lived, is part of the charming Municipal Park. The Park itself encourages walks around the pond and in the Jordan Garden, which is part of it.

One of the city’s streets and the Music School were also named after Szeluto. The composer’s resting place can be found in the Holy Cross Cemetery, located on Cmentarna Street.
